Raritan Bay Medical Center Selects Mediware Information Systems, Inc. HCLL Transfusion Service Software to Manage Multi-Site Transfusion Services

LENEXA, Kan.,  Mediware Information Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:MEDW), an acknowledged leader in clinical information and patient safety software management solutions, announced today that Raritan Bay Medical Center has signed a contract for HCLL(tm) Transfusion to manage their multi-site Transfusion Services.

Raritan Bay, a Mediware customer for 13 years, is an acute care community hospital providing general, Medical/Surgical, pediatric and obstetric care as well as extensive outpatient services and 24-hour emergency care. Raritan Bay is a multi-site facility totaling more than 500 beds with two sites, Perth Amboy and Old Bridge. Raritan Bay Medical Center was voted the "Best Hospital in Central New Jersey" in 2004 by readers of the Home News Tribune; also in 2004 the RBMC staff received the National Magnet Award for Nursing Excellence.

In January, 2005 RBMC published a press release launching initiatives to enhance Patient Safety. RBMC is clearly dedicated to taking steps which will continuously improve patient safety for New Jersey residents.

Frank Poggio, Vice President and General Manager of Mediware Blood Bank Division has stated that, "HCLL(tm) Transfusion is the unquestionable choice to support the patient safety initiatives of Raritan Bay. Proactive CFO's who are concerned about the significant liability of a transfusion error will take steps to ensure their clinical departments have the tools they need to minimize hospital risk and malpractice exposure."

Sidney C. Kress, MD, Medical Director, Blood Bank at Raritan Bay Medical Center shares why Raritan Bay chose Mediware's HCLL(tm) Transfusion software: "The decision to implement Mediware Blood Bank system was based on the long association between Raritan Bay Medical Center and Mediware. Their system has proven itself to be reliable and fulfills all the needs of the transfusion service and blood donation service. The support for the system, provided by this company has been excellent. We look forward to a continuing productive relationship with Mediware."

Doctors Often Drag Out Malpractice Cases

Malpractice cases don’t necessarily take any longer than other cases, but doctors, hospitals, and insurance companies often try to drag them out. Malpractice claims are often delayed because the doctor or hospital know they will ultimately have to pay.
